
CDL License Information and Requirements

Class A- A permit to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. (HOLDERS OF CLASS A LICENSE MAY, WITH APPROPRIATE ENDORSEMENTS, OPERATE VEHICLES WITHIN CLASSES B & C.)

CLASS C- A permit to operate any single or combination vehicle that does not meet the definition of Class A or Class B and requires the H or P endorsement. Holding this class license does not authorize operation of vehicles requiring motorcycle classification.
Class B- A permit to operate any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle no in excess of 10,000 pounds. (HOLDERS OF A CLASS C LICENSE MAY, WITH APPROPRIATE ENDORSEMENTS, OPERATE ALL VEHICLES WITHIN COMMERCIAL CLASS C.)
ENDORSEMENTS
The following authorizations are required when operation vehicles of the type listed.

S- School Bus (When adding “S” endorsement, you must attach a School Bus Physical Exam Form DL-704

X-HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND TANKER Vehicle -
N- TANK VEHICLES

P-PASSENGER (Required if applying for “S” endorsement)
*In accordance with Federal and State Hazardous Materials Regulations, operators of vehicles which require the “H” or “X” endorsement must be 21 years of age or older.
Upon issuance of a commercial learner’s permit, you will be subject to commercial driver penalties for any violation committed.
RESTRICTIONS
The following restrictions prohibit you from operating certain types of vehicles:
C/N- May not drive a Class A or B bus (MUST be removed to operate Class B bus)
B/M- May not drive a Class A bus.
L- NOT EQUIPPED WITH AIR BRAKES (MUST be removed to operate vehicles with air brakes).
E- May not Operate Manual Transmission
Z- Prohibits driving a commercial motor vehicle with full Air Brakes.
O- May not Operate a Tractor Trailer
Note: Restrictions will be placed on your license based on the vehicle you were tested in.
TO MEET CDL IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS YOU MUST PRESENT THE FOLLOWING
U.S. CITIZENS
You must bring ONE of the following:
· Birth Certificate with raised seal (U.S. issued by an authorized government agency, including U.S. territories or Puerto Rico.) No other birth documents will be accepted.
· Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (BCIS/INS Form N-560)
· Certificate of Naturalization (BCIS/INS Form N-550 or N-570)
· Valid U.S. Passport (Only valid U.S. Passports and original documents will be accepted.)
NON- U.S. CITIZENS
You must bring ALL original USCIS/immigration documents:
· All original USCIS/immigration documents

*All documents must show the same name and date of birth, or an association between information on the documents. Additional documentation may be required, if a connection between the documents cannot be established (e.g. Marriage Certificate, Court Order of name change, Divorce decree, etc.) *
TO MEET RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS, YOU MUST PRESENT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
· Tax Records
· Lease Agreements
· Mortgage Documents
· W-2 Form (do not mail)
· Current Weapons permit (U.S. Citizen only)
· Current Utility Bills (water, gas, electric, cable, etc.)
· Current PA License
